I dont have that big of an issue with rubberbanding. This may increase as the day goes on, but we'll see. Largely lag is mostly on the clients side. AKA Its your fault for having crappy internet. Ok thats a bit harsh, but its still true. The best you can do to fix most lag is make sure guildwars is the only program running using the internet and all other major resource consuming programs are turned off.
And yea, they respawn every half second about i think. So if your really lucky you can pick up both echo and super in two turns and then jet out. But its not likely. But even if you waste several seconds its easy to get back up to 3rd or 4th if you camp the boxes for echo and super echo.
However i cant see that that is how the high scores were made. You would still have to pick up another super roll around gate 5 to even come close to the bottom of the top 100. So pretty much, its down to luck.
Hope no one KDs ya. :-p
EDIT - Oh and the races are god for earning quick tokens. You can easily rack up a stack by just winning races (like i did). Which you can then trade for stuff. So they are good for something. Well im off to check out the new quests. *waves*

I think they should change it to 1vs1 races, that way the random knockdown factors from 4 other players would not play so large a role and skill would be a bigger factor in determining the top 100.

Yeah i think its a bit stupid how they're giving prizes to people that play this so much they eventually get the mother of all lucky skill combinations.
I've won 3 in a row... then the last race second place gets 3 Super Rollerbeetles IN A ROW... suddenly he's so far ahead he's not even on my map and i was in second and leading the back lot by a fair bit.

I missed the idea that the top 100 should be consective wins. Thats an interesting idea. But ya know, you'd have those prize hungry people playing during dead hours so they could play against little competion, however maybe they'd all have the same idea and face each other. :-p
But its pretty easy to win at least 5 times in a row, once you know a quick path and box locations. And my highest is 454k with one superroller, which didnt even make the highscore list when i made it.
But i digress back to the point i wanted to make. Which is that the luck based point system isn't very rewarding to those who may actually be good at the race. Then again its just a mini-game, but you know what, I do care a little that what skill i have will only earn me tokens and more balth faction.

Harsh? Maybe. The Truth? That depends.
A lot more can contribute to lag other than the player's machine. Like network conditions in that particular area, ArenaNET's servers(it happens all the time), etc. etc.

I think the game is very fun, but the action definitely gets jerky when you are bumping into each other. Like the game can't handle quick action or something.
EDIT: It is not my connection, and I doubt it is very many other people's connections. It is the network code of the Guild Wars engine.

Bingo, I'm running a solid high-end DSL connection. The lame lag and rubber banding is not my internet's fault.

I've yet to lag and I've raced quite a bit, so i am of the opinon it is mostly (if not entirly) client side lag.
edit: can also be things like your comp specs tho like I've posted mine aren't great, I think it maybe a bit of luck with the lag, who knows, I just know I've not ran into it on a 512/256 connection (which isnt "great")

You do know the internet does not consist solely of "your connection" and "Anet's servers" right? There's a whole lot of shit inbetween those two points than neither you nor our benevolent overlords can do anything about.

One race the one guy had a great lead right before the cave after that he finished I came in second but never crossed the line because he some how got so far ahead. Guess he was really luck getting echo and boots each time. But the one thing is I didn't get my prize for comming in second.
I've been lucky to get boost and echo's too but could only top out at 447k but wasn't good enough to make the list =(
Might be a good idea to reset the records every six hours or some thing like that

Best was 460k when i got 3 super beetles....(oooo so close but ooo so far)
Its fun but the rubberbanding and the collision system should be fixed before this was introduced.

I've been seeing a rumor that if you use less skills and still win a 1st then you get higher points as if you won with using skill after skill???
Any truth to this or just a rumor? Anybody have any ideas?

If the only thing that has lag is Guild Wars, and the lag only appeared when the event started, and the lag occurs even in areas that have nothing to do with the event, then it is not client-side lag. Just because some individuals have not experienced it does not mean they are entitled to say one word about the experiences of others. The lag is real, it is not the fault of the players, and Anet is aware of it - hence Gaile's post in the 007 thread asking if the recent build cleared some of it up, because apparently that was their intent (which failed). So people blaming the users can kindly shut up.
Severe lag problems are generally bad business when you're trying to sell people on a very limited-time activity.

I was first determined to get to ladder, but then reliazed how much it depens on luck and gave up. It's fun for awhile, but personally I prefer Dragon and Snowball arena more as these leave more room for player skill.

I went from 1st to 4th because of that staircase. :S

Yeah I agree with you. Especially since the mini pet is probably a beatle which I really have wanted as a mini since I first saw them.
Oh well guess I can try and find a cheap one.

Prizes should be awarded to people who can get 5 or 10 wins in a row, not the highest score because that is just based on luck. You have a higher chance of getting lucky if you play it a lot, and so its kinda based on time played, which gw is against.

I know those highscores are so high its not even worth trying to get to. Its all luck about if you can get superbeetle and other combos and not get knocked down. Not to mention lag and rubberbanding...
